Linux Haters Blog ? Windows Lover Blogs ? WTF?

Why is everybody "hating" the "Linux Hater Blog"?

This guy knows more about Linux then most of the people I know ;) So, he's absolutely correct.

Especially his article about "How to write a KDE Application".

But I have to say, that I'm writing my KDE Applications in Python, so I'm really much faster shaking my hand to come to a climax including spending more time with my girlfriend.

I really love this guy...no, really I do :)

The real issue

Basic problem is bad manners and foul mouth. And use of deception and invective to convert people. What Linux developers ought to be doing is not try to write better code but learn better mannes , decency and other attributes of civilized existence. That would convert a lot more people to Linux.

not in Planet Ubuntu please

I'd like to understand why you feel the need to post to Ubuntu with titles that including "WTF" and cursing in your posts.

Would you mind not posting those in Planet Ubuntu ? I don't mind sarcasm, being cynic, free speech and so on out of Planet.. but I think some of your posts are out of line. I am sure other people will agree the allusions to masturbation and sex do not fit in Planet Ubuntu either.

I am not sure how to put this - but please think that some of us do refer family and friends that are new to Ubuntu to the Planet site, and when they see such posts, well, it's not the proper setup to welcome them. As an Ubuntu member, you know that. To be clear, I am NOT asking you change anything about your posts, but when you decide to curse, and setup a post for that tone, it should not be on Planet Ubuntu.

How?

How would you suggest one specific post skip Planet? Should he remove himself from Planet, post, wait 3 days (since it takes that long to get off the Planet page), then rejoin Planet? Be realistic.

what?

why are you sending new converts to the planet to read about stuff that is likely way over their head? I work with the OS on a daily basis in a production environment and half the stuff on the planet goes over my head. I see no benefit to getting new users to read the planet. They would be more interested in the weblogs then the planet.

I also see no harm in abbreviated curse words...what's the big deal? Every 12 year old with a cell knows more abbreviations than most of us ever will.

This sounds like a bitch for the sake of bitching.

I'm not sure...

but your friends who are not familiar with Ubuntu, Linux, or Computers in general don't know anything about abbreviations of "WTF", "WTH", whatelse is there.

I don't think, too, that you read the mentioned article I'm refering too..but that's normal, so I don't see any relation between my post and sex or masturbation?! Please point me to it? If you refer to "climax"...that I would like to point you again to the refered article...it has nothing to do with your "dirty" thoughts.

Please come back if you did read it. Please don't push me into the corner of sex or whatever you have in your strange mind, when there is nothing written about that.

KThx.

Is that page _really_ helping?

So the linuxhaters blog describes the problems of Linux? Does that actually _solve_ any of the problems? Does that help getting people to work on these issues in their spare time? Or won't newcomers read this, don't understand it, and turn away thinking "well he's right, now that I see all of the problems listed at once, I realize Linux sucks"?

Also, do most Linux users _really_ believe there are no problems with the system they use? Sorry, but if you need the linuxhaters blog to realize this, I am in awe of your doublethink abilities :-) For me, the blog is rather a painful reminder of how utterly far away we are from delivering even a half-perfect operating system.

Btw. if you need a permanent reality reminder, just use this: http://xkcd.com/196/ It's more concise, more funny, and still to the point.

PS: please to be fixink your captcha... Requiring cookies (but not saying so) is really irritating; and so is asking for "15 times 12" and then complaining that the answer may only be 2 characters long...

Quite agree

Looking at his posts I get the feeling that he is really in the stuff and not only bashing around like others do. The link is quite good :-D It convinced me to akregate the blog.

Your Welcome

A lot of people do not catch the satire in the Linux Hater's blog posts at all. I love that blog with a passion and he is right in so many ways. What is great are the comments. He feeds off of them like no other.

Stephan, start contributing already and don't write about this non-sense, especially with all of the wars going on :P
